The UDE Story- (Bensalem)

The instructors were great. Got some stuff that has been explained to me before, but didn't click. Went to the autox course and thought, gee I am going to do great.

The instructor drove the course with us in the car and I was blown away. That didn't feel smooth! That was hard!

First excercise, braking. On the straightaway, I nailed it. On the curve, I wussed.
Wuss wuss wuss.
I was with my friend Rich, a driving buddy for the last 6 years, and I knew I would be hearing about this for a while.

Now that I knew I was a wuss, I decided I had nothing to lose by letting go. Rachel the cone killer was back!

I gave over control to the instructor's voice. That was cool. Rich was in the back seat grinning.
On his turn, he wiped out a bunch of cones.
Then the class divided in two and we competed as tag teams. The girl behind me was a second faster than me, but I had done pretty good.

I was pretty amazed I got a prize for "Most Improved" and Rich got the prize for "Best Performance". Not bad for my first autocross experience.

What I learned is that everytime I try these things, I can get better if I try what the instructors say, and that twice now in school, the folks with the best times are the ones who screwed up the most in training. Like the Porshe dude who wiped out so colossally at Derek Daly, he was the fastest in the class too. Take it literally, you WANT to make your mistakes in class so you don't make them on the runs.

Don't worry, I know that this prize means I was the one who stunk the worst at the beginning!

It was a Z3'ers kind of day, I got a ride from a Z3'er to the event- THANKS TOM!, met MB Z3'ers at the event, Dan and Tammy, turned on a newbie Z3'er in a BG ///M Coupe to the MB and the Club- but he was already carrying a MB card from Tom M!, and got these pics and a ride with another Z3'er on the way home, top down in the rain of course, THANKS JON!!!

Loads of Z3's in the parking lot... most parked together.

I got some pics of the X5 to show ya, but I want to be sure that posting them won't p.o. tptb... I will let you know Monday.

I got to drive the ///M coupe and it sure is stiff and fast and fun to drive, and smoother... but I like feeling a bit more of the road. In it I couldn't stand having any traffic in front of me, the world is just not cool enough for that car.
