Radar Sensor from velleman (but you could use a 2 stage radar sensor - from auto-tronics security, one chirp if someone comes to close to the car for warning and the second stage if someone would actually reach inside the car)

The connection: black for mass, red for 12V and the blue (negative trigger) goes to the existing negative trigger from the hood (don't forget to use 2 diodes N400 to isolate the signal from the hood trigger and the radar sensor. The velleman should cost about 20-30$, the 2 stage from auto-tronics is 53$ plus shipping.

I preferd the 1 stage sensor because I'm used to park close to other cars... I didn't want the car to chirp every time someone passed by.

Never had a problem with flies or leafs... but it went of when some kids tried to climb into my car.
