We didn't stop until we stopped. And when we stopped we stopped for gas, pee and a map. And a cellphone to cancel all out reservations at Uniontown, and in Ohio. Black and white battery-powered TV sets were selling for thirty dollars at the truck stop.
Truck Stops Of America, Columbia, NJ

Looking at the map over a plate of eggs, I saw a road at exit 29 that would dance us through some state forests and return us like a do-si-do to exit 22 in PA. Atlas maps of PA ALWAYS cuts the state in half, it's always in the same place, and it's very annoying.
West and west and west, eighty eighty eighty. Rain always hovering over our heads, not quite raining on us, or just raining hard enough to make us worried that we'd run into a traffic slowdown and get wet. As long as we were going 45+, we'd be relatively dry. Not too fast because I have only until June 1 until my PA points expire. If I get even one point before June 1, the 2 points I already have, that would have died, would live again like a vampire, newly reborn from fresh blood for another year.
As Exit 29 approached, a flashing sign read:
Construction Slow Down Exit 29-22.

Really?
Really?
OK, off we go on exit 29, and the first of many fabulous road finds.
