When we got on the Taconic, Gadi asked "Can we open it up a little bit?" and of course with 53 miles of "Best Road" ahead, and armed with V1's of course the answer was "YEEE HAAA".

We saw the officer. I mean we saw him waaay ahead. Our V1's went off in plenty of time. I even had time to report the MTC on the Talkabout. I know I had...er... "opened it up" and when the officer began to move off the hill I assumed it would be me if anyone he'd ticket. I think we each assumed it would be us. None of us understood how it was Mike. It must be how ducks feel when they are flying in formation and one gets shot out of the sky. Mike had driven up from D.C. the night before and stayed with family in N.J. so he could drive with us. Apparently they torture and abuse traffic violators in D.C. (also radar detectors are illegal there?) so it left Mike pretty shook up, not knowing if he'd be locked up as soon as he returns home.
We had all pulled over in solidarity with our fellow, but watching daylight fade on a dozen roadsters, and wondering if maybe it would make the officer uncomfortable, or give him the idea to ticket us all, I told the group to move on and I stuck with Mike.

There are some mysteries here, like the fellow in the red van who pulled over in front of me to go have a chat with the officer writing tickets. Was he offended by the group driving? Whatever, the policeman handled the van driver, and gave Mike a ticket for 81 in a 55, advised him that he'd have let him go if it was only 70ish. Hmmmm.
I asked the cop if I could photograph him actually ticketing Mike, but he was not in the mood. As far as Mike's actual speed, let's just say he was grateful for the ticket as it stands.
I can't find the url someone just posted that lists the points given for specific offenses but I did find this

Traffic Lawyers Web Ring

- there is one who specializes in tickets given to out of state drivers, and they are affiliated with the

National Motorists Association
,
which RichC has told us about. I have no experience with this but it lists the points assigned in New York.
