After it's connected :

With all the wires connected, use your chrome installation keys to align the Traffic Pro, carefully guiding it's finger into the antitheft trigger mechanism. Press on the spring loaded levers on either side of the Traffic Pro to release the keys, push it gently into place.

tp_keys
Two kinds of keys - Chrome and not-so-chrome. The not-so-chrome ones are actually easier to use for removal.
tp_insert1
Insert your keys as shown (check your manual, this is the correct position for the "not-so-chrome" key)
tp_insert2
They need to face each other
tp_insert3
Grasp the keys and pull outward. This will cause the "grippers" in the TP to release and you will be able to pull it out.
W.B. writes: The release/installation tool that came with my TP does not coincide with one in the instructions. On the sides is suppose to be a small appendage or two (green arrows). Mine is void of these. This makes it impossible to use to change the location of the retaining springs as shown in booklet. I used a small common screw driver and a small pair of pliers to re-adjust mine correctly. If installed as delivered you will get slop in the installation (fore and aft play). With my wooden dash the retaining springs had to be pulled forward almost as far as they would go.

Now you can follow the directions in the manual to calibrate and install your mapping software, pick a voice for your Traffic Pro and set off on any adventure.

Shel points out these calibration instructions for the Ford Traffic Pro II are better than the ones in the manual we have.
You can also use the faceplate of the Traffic Pro as a remote. Rich C writes:

tp_remove1
Press the "CD Eject button"
tp_remove2
Let the faceplate open.
tp_remove3
Push slightly to the left, down by the hinge, while, at the same time, pulling gently towards you
tp_remove4
The faceplate will come off on the right hand side (the side you pushed on) -- just pull it off at this point.
tp_remove5
when you put it back on, just latch it on the left, press left and slide it into the right-hand hinge

Welcome to the wonderful world of Traffic Pro, where you never have to write down directions again and everything sounds better. Make sure you pick up some maps anyway, Traffic Pro isn't meant to obsolete maps, it just makes everything so... much... easier.
